Product Overview
Picking a barrel for an AR-15 usually means working out the gas system length, gas block size and muzzle thread yourself, then installing it like a gunsmith, with a torque wrench and an armorer's wrench. With MBZ, you just choose the caliber and the length, and the kit ships complete with the barrel ready to swap.
Every MBZ Barrel Kit is built by MBZ in Evansville, Wisconsin, and ships ready to install.
7.62x39 16" barrel, delivered with the MBZ Barrel Adapter mounted, ready to swap onto your MBZ-15 or MBZ Complete Upper Assembly.
What's in the box
- Ballistic Advantage barrel, 7.62x39, 16"
- Low-profile gas block and gas tube, installed
- Flash hider
- MBZ Barrel Adapter, mounted on the barrel
- Spanner wrench
Runs on
Requires the 7.62x39 bolt assembly, available from MBZ. Uses 7.62x39 AR magazines.
Runs on the dedicated 7.62x39 bolt assembly and dedicated 7.62x39 AR-15 magazines. The 6.5 Grendel bolt does not work on this caliber.
Your MBZ-15 or MBZ Complete Upper Assembly came with the bolt assembly for its first barrel, and it is not this one unless you started in 7.62x39. Keep the other one, you will want it if you go back.
How the swap goes
Take any accessories off the handguard, unscrew the handguard, loosen the Adapter with the spanner wrench and pull the bolt back slightly to unlock the barrel. Slide the new barrel in, release the bolt, snug the Adapter with the wrench and give it a light tap, then screw the handguard back on. No torque wrench, no gunsmith. Recheck the Adapter when you clean the rifle. Your optic stays on the receiver.
Good to know
This barrel kit fits the MBZ threaded upper receiver only. It does not fit a standard AR-15 upper. Estimated kit weight: 48 oz, to be confirmed once a packed kit is weighed.
