The shop
MBZ Firearms is a licensed firearms manufacturer in Evansville, Wisconsin. A shop, a bench, and a town of five thousand people. The rifles are built here, one at a time, by the people who answer the phone.
The man who builds them
Dan Butcher spent his working life running a trade business. He came to this the way most shooters do: hunting, shooting, and a bench full of parts.
The idea is simple, and he will tell you so himself: a good rifle needs a good trigger, a good barrel, and a good optic. The trigger and the optic, you have already paid for and already learned. Between the house, the range, the deer woods and the hog field, the one thing that changes is the barrel.
So change the barrel.
Dan Butcher. Evansville. Wisconsin.
Getting there took longer than the idea did. The system has been in development and in the field for several years.
Who tested it
Specialists. Former military, retired law enforcement, hunters, competitive shooters, and people who want one rifle that will do whatever the year asks of it.
They are the ones who told us what to fix. A number of them are still shooting the early builds.
